• Several design strategies can be used to improve accessibility for vision-impaired pedestrians at signalized intersections:
    • Avoid the use of large-radius corners.
    • Avoid placing curb ramps at different angles at a single intersection — they should align with crosswalks.
    • Install domed curb-ramp surfaces (i.e., detectable warning surfaces).
    • Increase the pedestrian walk interval by 5 – 8 seconds.
    • Design and install accessible pedestrian signals in a manner consistent with KYTC design standards.
